This page contains a brief summary of Emma's journal for every day in December of 1883.
December 1st
Lapis Lazuli becomes empty but for Emma M. Lion. Treasure Island finds its way to her doorstep, and she begins reading.
December 2nd
At church, Emma does not manage to catch Young Hawkes' gaze at all to thank him for the book.
December 3rd
After reading incessantly in the company of Tybalt, Emma finishes Treasure Island.
December 4th
Emma went for an early walk, and Agnes frets over her application to the Society of St. Crispian's Senior Servants.
December 5th
During tea with Mrs. Penury, Islington bursts in to argue with Emma's advertisement in the Gazette about the Roman. The three settle down for tea, and Pierce appears. After some conversation, Mrs. Penury helps cook in the kitchen, eventually leading to Islington discovering the portrait of himself that hangs there.
December 6th
Islington sends notes in an attempt to remedy yesterday's small catastrophe. Emma begins mapping the Roman, and eventually lets Cousin Archibald join her.
December 7th
Saffronia March invites and accompanies Emma to a party of artists. Emma talks with a man who knew her father, and finds Pierce there as well (who seems to flirt with a good many women).
December 8th
