March 5th
Emma M. Lion arrives in London and moves into Lapis Lazuli House, specifically the garret at the demands of Cousin Archibald. Him, along with Cousin Matilde, Parian, Agnes, and Lady Eugenia Spencer are introduced. Emma finds a copy of Paradise Lost in the garret and decided to make up some calling cards.
March 6th
Emma is banned from the dinning room and describes herself and introduces a few details about St. Crispian’s, Lapis Lazuil House, her situation, and her family.
March 7th
Emma canvasses St. Crispian's and describes the unique neighborhood.
March 8th
Emma decides to do something about her garret. She also explains The Roman and discusses him with Agnes.
March 9th
Emma walks past the St.Crispians Bookshop, she wants a book but cannot due to lack of money. Emma and Arabella then send notes to each other about the coming spring. Emma explains a scheme with Arabella where they don't tell Aunt Eugenia that Emma in in London until April.
March 10th
Emma mended clothes while talking with Agnes in the kitchen, Agnes past is explained.
March 11th
"Rain, dismal enough to be cozy."
March 12th
Emma writes about her fiances and how she is owed 3 years salary from working with Aunt Matilde and an allowance from Cousin Archibald.
March 13th
Emma stays up late reading and looking for The Roman, journal entry includes "Selected Notes From My Reading"
March 14th
Emma finds out the Garret has mice.
March 15th
Emma moves the furniture in the Garret and cleans up the mice droppings twice over, Emma threatens Parian to get white paint.
March 16th
Emma remarks that Cousin Archibald is sneaking in and out of the house.
March 17th
Emma paints the Garret, she remarks how it is almost pleasant.
March 18th
Emma goes to church, Young Hawkes is introduced, a sermon is given that has the congregation enrapt. Emma thinks back to when she first met Hawkes.
March 19th
Cousin Archibald comes and visits Emma in the Garret, they have a mostly civil conversation.
March 20th
Emma adds furniture to the Garret, a Turkish carpet and a green bookshelf.
March 22nd
Emma makes a record of all living relatives, Lady Aunt Eugenia Spencer, Damian Spencer, Arabella Spencer, Cousin Archibald Flat, and Matilde who is Archibald's sister.
March 23rd
Good Friday, Emma lit a candle for father.
March 24th
Emma thought she saw Maxwell.
March 25th
Easter Sunday, Hawkes gave a sermon about the resurrection.
March 26th
Emma thinks of Maxwell and how she has thought she has see him many times. Emma thinks back to how she wrote a letter to Maxwell's brother Evelyn.
March 27th
Emma writes to Mary, she reads old correspondences with Mary.
March 28th
Emma remarks on her current day routine and how it will change when Aunt Eugenia comes.
March 30th
Mary stops by for a visit. Mary tells Emma she has hired a cousin named Jack for clandestine activities
March 31st
Emma thinks on her life, her family, and going to a finishing school called A Preparatory School For Girls,
